COVID-19 Information

/COVID-19 PROTOCOL POLICY FOR CLASSES

 

Please find below the protocols and procedures FLAM GC will implement in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Note also that we are all in this together, and it is part of our collective responsibility to each other to understand the protocols, teach them to our kids and implement them. It is impossible to eliminate the risk of transmission entirely. But together, we can mitigate risk and prevent spread of the virus to the best of our ability. => All our procedures and protocols are subject to change as conditions change. 

 

SOCIAL DISTANCING

    • Social distancing to be exercised at all times
    • New protocols in place to eliminate crowding and provide distancing (drop off – pick-up) 
    • In the classes, each person is separated by three feet from another individual. 
    • Desks facing the same direction rather than facing each other. 
    • Students, teachers, and staff maintain consistent groupings of people, to minimize virus spread in the school. 
    • Fans and open windows (whenever possible) to improve airflow inside classrooms.
    • Anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should not come to class.
    • Cohort strategy in place to limit contact. Students and staff within a cohort will only have physical proximity with others in the same cohort.
    • No events, field trips, other group gatherings

 

FACIAL COVERINGS

  • Everyone who comes to campus must wear a face covering at all times. 
  • Students should bring their own face coverings (2) each class, with an adequate fitting, and have it labeled with their name. 
  • Everyone should have at least an additional face covering inside their backpack.

 

AT HOME SCREENING

  • All parents and staff are required to sign and agree to our COVID-19 Community commitment form.
  • Don’t come to school if anyone in the residence : Has fever or symptoms and hasn’t ruled out COVID, Was exposed to case, Has tested positive for COVID-19. 
  • No use of fever-reducing medications allowed prior to school. 
  • Please notify FLAMGC director eflamgc@gmail.com – Telephone 630-506-6225, in any of those cases for further instructions and follow FLAM GC’s instructions for the next class to come, regarding conditions to return to school and quarantine. 

=> if children miss one or more classes, teachers will follow up and help them keep on learning French despite the situation.

 

AT SCHOOL SCREENING

  • All students and staff required may get a temperature and symptoms screening each day of class prior to entering the building or during class. 
  • Screening includes checking for the following symptoms: 
    • Fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher 
    • Chills 
    • Coughing 
    • Headache 
    • Muscle or body aches 
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing 
    • New loss of taste or smell 
    • Sore throat 
    • Nausea or vomiting 
    • Diarrhea 

Students with a fever of 100 F or above or any COVID related symptoms will be sent home. 

 

CLOSED CAMPUS

  • Only faculty, staff, employees, and approved maintenance and service personnel will be allowed inside the building. 
  • No parents/visitors allowed in the building. 
  • Drop-off/Pick-up times are:
    • Thursdays: 
      • Les Petits FLE: Drop off between 3:55pm-4:00pm and Pick-up at 4:50pm
      • Les Jeunes FLE: Drop off between 3:55pm-4:00pm and pick-up at 5:20 pm
      • Les explorateurs FLE: Drop off between 5:25 and 5:30 pm and pick up at 6:30pm 
    • Saturdays: Drop off between 9:25am- 9:30am and Pick-up 11:30am 
    • The door will be locked outside of these times. We won’t be able to accept tardy students or early pick-ups. 

 

LIBRARY PROCEDURE

  • Students will be following social distancing in the library.

 

INSIDE THE CLASSROOM

  • Hand sanitizer at each entrance and in every classroom. It is required for all to use it whenever entering a building. 
  • Students and teachers are encouraged to use hand sanitizer frequently. 
  • Frequent opportunities to wash hands – Sink available is each classroom. 
  • Each child’s belongings separated from others’ belongings. 
  • No sharing of items/school supplies in the classroom. 
  • Students must bring their own school supplies (specific supply list from each teacher). 
  • No water fountains accessible. 
  • Students asked to bring their own water bottles clearly labeled. 

 

TOILET PROCEDURE

  • Handwashing before and after using the restroom. 
  • Face covering while in the toilet. 

 

SYMPTOMATIC CASE DURING CLASS HOURS

If someone within the school community (e.g., student, teacher, staff) has symptoms during classes, we will follow the procedures below:

  • Immediate separation: Symptomatic faculty or student removed from the class and isolated.
  • Temperature will be checked. 
  • Parents will be asked to pick up the child at their earliest convenience. 
  • A note from your doctor will be requested to return to school.
  • Communication with staff, parents and students: Communication will maintain confidentiality of the student or the staff. 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

 

#1. STUDENT/STAFF HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO IS A POSITIVE CASE

If a student or staff has been in contact with a confirmed case:

  • Please contact the school to let us know as soon as possible
  • Stay home for 10 days following the last COVID-19 exposure. You may return to class after 10 days if no symptoms developed and no new exposure occurred. 
  • If illness develops, begin a new 10 days quarantine from the onset of symptoms. 
  • Testing is highly recommended, after 5 days of exposure or whenever you have symptoms.
  • A negative test, done after day 5 of exposure, can reduce the length of quarantine to 7 days.

 

#2. ANYONE WITH COVID SYMPTOMS WITHIN THE HOUSEHOLD

  • Please contact the school 
  • If someone within the student’s household experiences any COVID symptoms, please stay home until the symptomatic person has gotten negative results.
  • If the symptomatic person is confirmed to have COVID please refer to #1.

 

#3. IF STUDENT/STAFF HAS COVID? 

If your child or one of our staff has gotten a positive COVID test (ideally PCR test)

  • Please contact the school
  • Stay home for 14 consecutive days from the onset of symptoms or from the confirmation of positivity.
  • Be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. 
  • Observe improvement of respiratory symptoms.
  • A medical note will be needed to return to class.

 

#4. CAN MY CHILD JOIN THE CLASS REMOTELY IF HE/SHE IS QUARANTINED?

At this time, we do not offer virtual classes. If your child misses the class, please contact the teacher directly by email. The teacher will send you the material used in class for the student to study at home.

#5. WHAT IS THE POLICY AFTER TRAVELING? 

  • Please follow the CDC’s recommendations after traveling: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html
  • Unvaccinated students/staff who travel should get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.
  • No need to quarantine for vaccinated individuals who travel. However, they should monitor any upcoming symptoms.
